Jean Shepherd, whose radio ramblings have won him national attention, will be host of a new series on TV 10, The Dissenters, premiering Sunday, Sept. 30, noon to 12:30 p.m. Shepherd, called "one of the most imaginative raconteurs in the history of broadcasting," will hold conversation each week with a representative of one of the numerous groups in the Delaware Valley having viewpoints differing from those of the majority. Everything from food fads to socialism, from osteopathy to pacifism will be explored throuhout the provocative and lively discussion series. * * * A successful artist, writer and actor, Shepherd has received greatest acclaim for his long - running series on WOR Radio in New York, where he reminisces, muses and expresses opinions on a broad spectrum of subjects. His unconventional, unfettered commentary upon the world around him has won him an avid following which includes such humorists as Steve Allen, S. J. Perelman and J. D. Salinger. The Dissenters, a presentation of the WCAU-TV Department of Public Affairs in cooperation with the American Civil Liberties Union, is produced and directed by Deborah Miller.
