Show Description
page 166: "That evening I heard a new voice on the radio, broadcasting live from The Limelight, a bar in the Village. Jean Shepherd told stories that had shape, like Roy Eldridge’s solos, and a great sense of timing. He made wild sounds of explosions, squeals, and cries. He described his friend Flick hurling a rock a miraculous seventy-fire yards at a trolley, knocking it out of service, and the lure of a girl named Jeanette Dombroski whose every move caused an undergarment strap to groan." [John Skoyles is a published poet and a Professor in the Writing, Literature and Publishing Department of Emerson College in Boston. He writes reviews also, and wrote the extensive, very positive review for Associated Press of "Excelsior You Fathead" by Eugene B. Bergmann when it was published in March 2005]
