Shep is inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame November 5, 2005

Long overdue for being elected into the Radio Hall of Fame it was time for Shep to be inducted. I wrote a letter of nomination and brief biography to be submitted along with a copy of "A Voice in the Night", a special tribute which was co-produced by Harry Shearer at KCRW and Art Silverman at NPR. It aired on Dec 24th 1999 on KCRW. They both gave expressed their permission to send this tribute saying that Shep had a large effect on their careers. Jean Shepherd was first nominated in the "Local or Regional Pioneer" Category He ran against Dan Ingram, Larry Lujack, and Rick Shaw The winner for 2004 was Larry Lujack Losing nominees are automatically re-entered for the following year. In 2005 he is elected in the "Local or Regional Pioneer" Category He ran against Jess Cain, Mike Murphy, and Preston Westmoreland
